The Eastern brown snake is the second most deadly land snake in the world. It has a potent Neurotoxic and Haemotoxic venom which combined with a nervous dispositon have made it responsible for a number of deaths in Australia.
It is a diurnal snake and ranges in colour from cream to rusty red and black and can be patterned with anything from bands to spots. It averages about 1,5 metres (5 ft) but can grow as long as 2,4 metres (8 ft). The female lays between 10 and 40 eggs in summer.
