SCROLL DOWN FOR A BOOMSLANG VIDEO
Many colubrids that are considered venomous are potentially harmless to humans because they either have small venom glands, relatively weak venom or an inefficient venom delivery system. The Boomslang is the exception with highly potent haemotoxic venom, which it delivers through large fangs located at the rear of the jaw. Its venom disables the bloods clotting ability and death through internal and external bleeding occurs. Because the venom is slow acting, symptoms only manifest themselves hours after the bite, which can lead some to believe that the bite was not serious. That would be a mistake because this is Africas most venomous land Snake.
