General: The Dumerils ground Boa (Acrantophis dumerili) is a terrestrial snake that comes from the dry forests in the South West of Madagascar. It is a moderate sized Boa that reaches lengths of between 4 and 7 feet. It can be a somewhat aggressive snake and is usually quite nervous.
Enclosure: Dumerils Boas require a large enclosure of at least 60” X 36” X 24”. A suitably sized hide box and a large water bowl should be provided for drinking and bathing.
Substrate: Dumerils Boas require a moderate humidity so it would be best to use a substrate that can retain a slight bit of moisture, like cypress mulch, or a hide box filled with fresh spaghnum moss can also keep your dumeril at required humidity levels.
Temperature and Humidity: The ambient daytime temperature in your Dumerils enclosure should be around 78 degrees F with a Hot spot of 90 degrees. Night time temperatures should range between 74 and 80 degrees F. Humidity should be kept at around 60%.
Feeding: Feed your Dumerils Boa rodents not thicker than one and a half times the size of your snakes girth at its widest point every 10 days.
Cleaning: Clean you Dumerils enclosure thoroughly and disinfect it at least once a month, remove faeces as it appears. Clean water should always be available.
